Photorealism and Temporal Dynamics for Immersive Visualization of Civil Structures

We investigate the impact of graphical fidelity and temporal dynamics on the sense of presence in immersive visualization of civil structures. Our case study employs a photorealistic representation of a dam and its surrounding environment, incorporating high-quality textures, physically based materials, and advanced lighting models. The visualization also integrates water simulation and temporal dynamics, including accurate computation of the Sun’s and Moon’s positions for any specified date and time of the year.
