Abstract:

Dam safety control is a complex and challenging task that involves the analysis, monitoring, and behavior prediction of the various components of dams. The analysis of idioms is traditionally carried out with no visual reference to the area of the dam being analyzed. This lack of contextualization offers limited understandability in a domain where spatial awareness is key. We propose the use of situated immersive analytics environments for contextualizing the data in the scope of the object of analysis (the dam structure). We argue that such analytics environments can potentially support decision-making and improve dam experts' contextual understanding of the data compared to conventional analysis.
